The house is entered through a hallway with a walk-in pantry on the left and a downstairs shower-room on the right. From there and through the door, you enter the tiled kitchen with a breakfast table, island unit, American-style fridge-freezer, gas range, and dishwasher. The back door leads out to a sunny patio with garden furniture and barbeque.

From the kitchen, the passage way leads to the beautiful re-furbished, carpeted living room with antique oak dining table and sideboard. The inglenook fireplace now houses a wood-burning stove and, the old farm sink in the living room is home to satellite and television equipment. There are plenty of comfortable armchairs and sofas for snuggling up in on cold nights by the fire or to escape into the deliciously cool interior after an afternoon in the glorious sunshine on summer days. DVD and English Sky TV is provided in the lounge with surround sound TV. IPods can also be played through the television to make use of the surround sound (as can other MP3 players via HDMI cable).

The stairs for the first floor are off the kitchen leading to the bedrooms, which are tastefully and charmingly decorated and have lovely views over the grounds. Original polished wooden floorboards gleam in the sunlight, and each has lovely comfortable beds, duvets and linen. There are 2 bedrooms on the left  – a twin and a double and an extremely spacious master doublebedroom on the right with king size bed and a shared bathroom. From the landing on the first floor, stairs lead up to the third double bedroom with King size bed and Velux windows facing to both the front and rear of Caupels with stunning views across the countryside.

A laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer is available for guests use.

The accommodation is comfortably furnished comprising:

  • A fitted kitchenwith range oven, gas hob, American fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
  • A pleasant living area and dining areawith dining table and chairs and comfortable armchair and settee and a small wood-burning stove for which logs are provided.
  • 3 double bedrooms and 1 twin room.
  • Downstairs wet room with shower, basin & WC. 1st floor shower room with WC & hand basin. Top floor en-suite shower room with basin & WC.

All utilities, end of stay cleaning, bed linen, towels and pool towels are included in the price.

Grounds, pool and surrounding area

Visitors to Caupels farmhouse have almost sole use of the heated salt water 11 x 5 metre swimming pool (the owner may sometimes be in residence in the 1-bedroom cottage nearby). The pool is situated about 45 metres from the house and has a pool-house with hot water shower/ changing room, kitchen and BBQ. Pool towels are also provided. There are walks and places of interest around the farmhouse, which is situated in around 10 acres of grounds including two cheeky and very friendly donkeys and a duck pond (children must be accompanied at all times when visiting the ducks or enjoying a walk).

Caupels farmhouse is a glorious place for a holiday and offers fabulous accommodation for up to 8 people with a heated salt water swimming pool and extensive garden and grounds.  2000ft up in the rolling hills and the deep valleys of the Truyère Gorges, this beautiful French country house is highly recommended for peace and tranquility, yet not far from several lovely local towns and villages.

Many of the original features of Caupels farmhouse have been blended into the renovations and the house offers a very high standard of comfort. Guests have use of the heated pool, pool house and extensive garden and grounds with many lovely places for relaxation and enjoyment.


5 minutes away is the village of Lacroix Barrez, which has a village store for necessities where you can also buy fresh bread and croissants daily. Two excellent restaurants are in Mur de Barrez 8 miles away. Entraygues, 8 miles away, is a bustling medieval town with 3 markets per week in summer. The large towns of Aurillac and Rodez are about an hour’s drive and both offer extensive shopping, culture, restaurants and activities to suit all tastes.

What a beautiful house, very comfortable and spacious. We had everything we could possibly want or need.  The pool is amazing and the countryside heavenly.  We were sorry to leave and will definitely be back!
